Actor Ed, an American actor who is best known for playing Lou Grant during the 1970s and early 1980s, has died at age 91.
The actor, whose roles also included voicing the lead in the Pixar film Up, passed away “peacefully” on Sunday morning, his family said.
We are sorry to say that our beloved patriarch passed away this morning, peacefully. Words cannot express the sadness we feel,” his family wrote on the actor’s Twitter account.
Actor Ed won three of his seven Emmys for playing the character and is one of only two actors to win a comedy and drama Emmy for the same role on different shows.
He had more than 300 acting credits and remained active throughout his 70s and 80s in a variety of film and TV roles.
In 2003, he played Santa Claus in Will Ferrell’s hit film Elf.
Actor Ed was born on August 29, 2021, in Tarzana, Los Angeles, California, in the United States of America.
