Amber Heard argues the jury thought she was lying because it listened to testimony from Johnny Depp’s ‘paid employees’ and ‘randos’

Amber Heard gave a new interview in which she called Johnny Depp’s witnesses in their high-profile defamation trial “paid employees” and “randos.”

During the televised interview with NBC News’ Savannah Guthrie, her first media appearance since the trial concluded, Heard was asked about the jury, which found that both Heard and Depp, her ex-husband, had been defamed but awarded $15 million in damages to Depp and $2 million to Heard.

“How could they make a judgment? How could they not come to that conclusion?” Heard said. “They had sat in those seats and heard over three weeks of nonstop, relentless testimony from paid employees and towards the end of the trial, randos, as I say.”

Heard didn’t specify whom she was referring to with the term “randos.”

She also told Guthrie she understood why the jury arrived at its decision.

“I don’t blame them. I actually understand. He’s a beloved character, and people feel they know him. He’s a fantastic actor,” Heard said.

Guthrie responded that the jury’s job was “to not be dazzled by that.”

“Their job is to look at the facts and the evidence, and they did not believe your testimony or your evidence,” Guthrie continued, prompting Heard to again mention efforts by Depp’s team to portray her as not credible.

Depp’s team called various witnesses to the stand during the trial, including members of his security teama former TMZ journalist, and the actor Kate Moss, who once dated Depp.

The witnesses called upon by Heard’s team included an orthopedic surgeon, a psychiatrist, an entertainment-industry consultant, and Heard’s sister, Whitney Henriquez.

During the same interview with Guthrie, Heard slammed social-media users who she said directed “hate and vitriol” at her during the trial.

“You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair,” Heard said.

Testimonies during the trial unveiled revelations about Depp and Heard’s tumultuous relationship, with both Depp and Heard accusing each other of physical and emotional abuse.

Representatives for Depp and Heard didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment from Insider.
